Cracking the Record: UK Chefs Cook Up the World’s Largest Scotch Egg

Two innovative UK chefs have officially taken the beloved British picnic classic to epic proportions! Phoenix Ross and Oli Paterson, known for their creative culinary content, have entered the Guinness World Records by crafting the world’s largest scotch egg, weighing an astonishing 7.81 kg.

Smashing the previous 6.2 kg record that stood for nearly 20 years, the mammoth scotch egg was cooked and unveiled in Enfield. The heavyweight snack even tipped the scales heavier than a standard bowling ball (7.25 kg)!

To construct this colossal creation, the duo used an ostrich egg — the largest egg laid by any living bird — as the core. Wrapped in layers of seasoned sausage meat, coated in crispy golden breadcrumbs, and deep-fried to perfection, the result was not only record-breaking but also irresistibly mouthwatering.

Fun fact: an average ostrich egg is equivalent to 24 regular hen eggs and can support the weight of a full-grown adult — making it the perfect (and durable) choice for a supersized scotch egg.

Chefs Phoenix (@shef_phoenix) and Oli (@elburritomonster) shared their journey on social media, where fans followed every step of the sizzling spectacle. The record-breaking dish has since gone viral, celebrating both British food heritage and culinary creativity.

With this egg-cellent achievement, Ross and Paterson have cracked open a new chapter in food records — one bite at a time.
