Brackley Dad Sets Guinness World Record with 516km Triathlon for Autism Charity

In a feat of endurance, determination, and heart, Tony Hopkin, a father from Brackley, Northamptonshire, has officially entered the Guinness World Records for completing a triathlon covering a staggering 516 kilometers (321 miles) in just over 38 hours.

Hopkin’s record-breaking effort included 100 one-kilometre laps (62 miles) around St James Lake, a 15.9km (10-mile) swim at Pitsford Reservoir, and a 400km (249-mile) cycle—all performed back-to-back with minimal rest.

The incredible endurance challenge wasn’t just a personal test—it was a heartfelt mission to raise funds for a local education charity that supports his autistic son. His effort has so far raised over £6,100, drawing praise and admiration from across the community.

“The triathlon was going OK until 50km into the run—then my feet became one very large blister,” Hopkin recalled. “I don’t know how I carried on. I think I blocked it out.”

Despite the intense physical pain, Tony’s motivation never wavered. His record-setting journey stands not only as an athletic triumph but also as a powerful testament to parental love and the strength of community support for special needs education.
