Celebrated Hindustani classical vocalist Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande has been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award for her exceptional service to the field of Art, particularly Indian classical music.
A leading exponent of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, Smt. Bhide Deshpande has enthralled audiences for decades with her rich, emotive renditions of Khayal, Thumri, and Bhajans. Her music is known for its technical mastery, intellectual depth, and spiritual resonance.
Trained initially by her mother, Smt. Manik Bhide, and later under maestros like Pandit Narayanrao Datar, she combines tradition with innovation. Alongside her artistic journey, she holds a doctorate in Biochemistry—a rare blend of science and art.
Her published works, including Ragarachananjali, feature self-composed bandishes that have contributed significantly to the enrichment of classical repertoire. She has performed at major national and international music festivals, earning accolades and admiration across continents.
