Indian athlete Yajik Hillang has etched her name in history by securing a gold medal at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2025, held in Thimphu, Bhutan. Hillang’s remarkable performance saw her claim the top spot in the Women’s Model Physique up to 155 cm category.
Hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, Yajik Hillang’s victory is particularly significant as she becomes the first female physique sports athlete from the state to win a gold medal at an international event. Her achievement has been widely lauded across India, with congratulatory messages pouring in from political leaders and sports enthusiasts.
The 25-year-old also clinched a silver medal in another category at the prestigious five-day championship, which concluded yesterday. The event, organized by the South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation, witnessed strong participation from various South Asian nations and is recognized by the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF).
Hillang’s journey to this international triumph has been marked by dedication and hard work. She had previously earned a silver medal at the 13th Federation Cup in Goa in April 2024 and represented India at the 56th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships and the 15th WBPF World Championships in 2024, gaining valuable international experience.
