Three remarkable women took to the streets of the capital during the London Marathon, not only to complete the iconic 26.2-mile race but also to raise thousands for charity — with one of them achieving a Guinness World Record along the way.
Alison Stewart, a teacher from Over, Cambridgeshire, raced dressed as a Street Fighter video game character, smashing the world record for the fastest marathon run in a video game costume with a time of 3 hours and 19 minutes. Her achievement thrilled fans of the classic arcade series and added a playful twist to the serious endurance event.
Also running for a cause was Laura Bird, from St Ives, Cambridgeshire, who took on the marathon carrying a 25kg (55-pound) fridge on her back. Her incredible strength and determination helped her raise £14,000 for charity, drawing cheers and admiration throughout the course.
Meanwhile, Jade Rush, a lead clinical nurse from Peterborough, ran in support of Contact, a charity that aids families with disabled children. Her participation highlighted the spirit of compassion and care that defines the London Marathon.
Together, these three women showed that the marathon is not only a test of physical endurance but also a celebration of creativity, generosity, and the power of personal missions.
