An ambitious 18-year-old from Taunton, Harry Besley, is preparing to make history as the first person to circumnavigate the entire coastline of Britain in a fully electric rigid inflatable boat (RIB).
The groundbreaking expedition is set to begin in mid-July, with Besley piloting his eco-friendly vessel on a journey that has never been attempted before using electric power alone.
“That record has never been set yet before, so we’ll be the first — and the fastest,” said Harry.
The challenge aims not only to secure a Guinness World Record but also to highlight advances in marine battery technology and encourage more sustainable practices in power boating.
Throughout the voyage, Harry will stop at various ports to showcase the boat and engage with communities about the importance of reducing carbon emissions on the water.
With innovation at its heart, the expedition marks a significant step forward in green maritime exploration — led by one of the UK’s youngest climate-conscious adventurers.
