South Korea’s Oh Yohan Breaks World Record with 11,707 Pull-Ups in 24 Hours, Honours Military Roots

In a stunning display of endurance, discipline, and patriotic pride, South Korea’s Oh Yohan, a military officer and elite athlete, has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the most pull-ups in a 24-hour period, performing a staggering 11,707 pull-ups between September 28–29 in Incheon.

The record, verified and confirmed earlier this month by Guinness World Records, marks a triumphant return for Oh, who previously held the title with 8,707 pull-ups before being overtaken by another competitor. Determined to reclaim the crown, he pushed his physical and mental limits to historic heights — and did so with symbolic precision.

“I served in the Republic of Korea 707th Special Mission Group,” Oh stated. “To honour the number 707, which represents the unit I served in, I finished my pull-up challenge at 11,707.”

Guinness World Records praised Oh’s feat, noting in an official statement:
“After years of training and enduring a demanding 24-hour challenge, he succeeded and proudly dedicated his result to his military unit, which shaped his discipline, strength, and spirit.”

Despite his hesitation — as his wife was due to give birth to their second child — Oh decided to confront the challenge once more. “The preparation process for the second challenge was actually so hard that I wanted to try it quickly, and I didn’t mind failing,” he shared. “I wanted to escape the pressure of each day.”

His perseverance paid off. As the final count was confirmed, Oh said he felt goosebumps. “I was so happy when I was officially registered in Guinness. I’m so grateful to all who have supported me.”

Beyond personal achievement, Oh’s mission was national pride. “I wanted to prove that the soldiers of the Republic of Korea are strong,” he said. “Finally, I achieved my dream that I had been preparing for since I was deployed overseas 22 years ago.”

Oh Yohan’s accomplishment is not just a record — it’s a powerful tribute to service, sacrifice, and the unbreakable will of a soldier.
