Runner Solves 520 Rubik’s Cubes While Running London Marathon, Breaks World Record

George Scholey, 22, originally from Northampton, may soon be crowned a world record holder after completing a staggering 520 Rubik’s Cubes while running the London Marathon — surpassing the previous record of 420 by a wide margin.

Scholey, an experienced speedcuber, took on the unique challenge to raise funds for St John Ambulance during the cube’s 50th anniversary year, adding extra meaning to his already remarkable feat.

Calling the experience “special,” he completed the full 26.2-mile course while continuously solving cubes, astonishing spectators along the route with both his endurance and mental agility.

“I wanted to combine my passion for cubing with my love of running, and this felt like the perfect way to give back,” said Scholey, who has now submitted evidence to Guinness World Records for official verification.

If confirmed, Scholey’s record will stand as a unique blend of athleticism, focus, and fundraising — truly a marathon achievement in every sense.
