In one of the most unforgettable feats ever televised, Roy Castle, renowned entertainer and presenter of Record Breakers, soared into history by parasailing under 10 London bridges in just 16 minutes and 57 seconds — smashing the previous record set by Brian Tripp of the Parakites Display Team.
The adrenaline-fueled challenge saw Castle launched from Lambeth Bridge and gliding gracefully over the Thames to Tower Bridge, dramatically cutting the former time of 45 minutes to less than 17.
The stunt was part of Castle’s iconic run on Record Breakers, where he pushed his physical limits to set or break a total of nine Guinness World Records, inspiring generations of viewers with his can-do spirit and infectious enthusiasm.
“You slaughtered the original record,” Castle was told upon emerging from the Thames, visibly thrilled and soaked, yet triumphant.
Castle passed away in 1994 from lung cancer but remains a British television legend whose legacy lives on — not only in Guinness World Records, but in the hearts of fans who still remember the trumpet-blowing, tap-dancing, record-breaking star.
