To commemorate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. M. M. Jasdanwala, owner of Kafka’s English Corner in Rajkot, organized a unique relay reading marathon on January 30, 2015. The event, held at Lok Vigyan Kendra, saw 83 students participate in reading Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography, “Satyana Prayogo,” non-stop for 27 hours and 18 minutes.
The reading marathon featured passages in Hindi, Gujarati, and English, aiming to spread awareness about Gandhiji’s life, philosophy, and teachings. By uniting participants across languages and backgrounds, the initiative highlighted the universal relevance of Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, and simplicity.
Dr. Jasdanwala praised the dedication and enthusiasm of the students who took part, emphasizing that such efforts can inspire the younger generation to adopt Gandhiji’s ideals and values.
The event concluded with a pledge to continue promoting Gandhiji’s legacy in the community.
