Polar Preet Sets Her Sights on Historic Solo North Pole Expedition

Former British Army officer and world record holder Preet Chandi, famously known as “Polar Preet”, is preparing to make history once again — this time as the first woman to travel solo and unsupported to the North Pole.

The 36-year-old adventurer from Derby is embarking on a grueling trek of just under 500 miles across shifting sea ice, facing extreme Arctic conditions with temperatures plunging to -50°C (-58°F). The expedition, expected to last up to 70 days, will test her physical endurance and mental resilience like never before.

“This is insanely hard — there’s probably only a 5% or 10% chance I can make it,” Chandi admitted, highlighting the enormity of the challenge.

If successful, Chandi would join an elite list of explorers, becoming the first woman to achieve the feat solo and unsupported — a record currently held only by Norway’s Borge Ousland (1994) and Britain’s Pen Hadow (2003).

With three world records already to her name, including being the fastest woman to trek solo across Antarctica, Polar Preet continues to push boundaries and inspire countless others with her courage, grit, and relentless pursuit of exploration.
