Partially Sighted Mum and Daughter Duo Break Own World Record at London Marathon

In an inspiring display of determination and teamwork, Lucette Crowhurst and her daughter Katie Crowhurst, both partially sighted, have broken their own Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run by a mother-daughter duo in the IS1 (impaired sight) classification.

The duo completed the 2025 London Marathon with a combined time of 8 hours, 17 minutes, and 54 seconds, surpassing their previous best and setting a new global benchmark in their category.

Lucette, who can only see blurry colours and has no depth perception, ran with the assistance of a guide runner. Her 21-year-old daughter Katie, a decorated para athlete, ran the full course independently, relying solely on her mother’s guide to reach the starting line.

“It’s more than a race — it’s about showing what’s possible when you refuse to let limitations define you,” said Lucette after the finish.

Katie has previously represented ParalympicsGB in triathlon and is quickly becoming a role model for aspiring athletes with disabilities. Her choice to run the marathon solo highlights her confidence and growing independence in elite sport.

Together, Lucette and Katie continue to redefine what’s achievable for visually impaired athletes. Their achievement is not just a personal triumph, but a powerful message about resilience, family, and breaking barriers.

The Crowhursts have proven once again that the strongest vision is not always measured by sight — but by heart, courage, and the will to keep moving forward.
