In an inspiring story of determination and discipline, Nidhi Dogra, a 16-year-old yoga prodigy from Himachal Pradesh, has made headlines by securing six world records in yoga, and credited her success to the Asmita League, a Khelo India initiative dedicated to promoting women athletes across the country.
Representing Himachal as the lone yogasana athlete at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, Nidhi praised the Asmita League for its consistent support, saying, “Playing in the Asmita League for the last two years has helped me grow immensely. It gave me the exposure, experience, and confidence to perform at the national level.”
Among her world record-breaking feats are:
Pranav Asana held for 47 minutes and 15 seconds
Chakrasana (Wheel Pose) for 27 minutes
Legs-up-the-Wall Pose held for 50 minutes
Head Stand for 1 minute 36 seconds
Scorpion Position, hitting three targets in 47 seconds
Maximum yoga forms, with 118 poses performed in 3 minutes and 24 seconds
Nidhi trains four to five hours a day under the guidance of her father and coach, Mr. Shashi Kumar, who is also a physical education teacher. Despite having achieved international recognition through her record titles, Nidhi remains focused on winning a medal for Himachal Pradesh at the Youth Games — a feat no athlete from her state has accomplished so far.
With her achievements and humble dedication, Nidhi Dogra continues to inspire young girls nationwide, proving that with the right support, platforms like the Asmita League can help transform talent into global recognition.
