The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has earned the prestigious Guinness World Records title for selling the most life insurance policies in 24 hours, a feat achieved under its ambitious “Mad Million Day” campaign.
On 20 January 2025, a staggering 452,839 LIC agents across the country collectively issued 588,107 life insurance policies—creating a new benchmark in global insurance distribution
This massive operation was spearheaded by LIC’s CEO & MD Siddhartha Mohanty, who urged every agent to issue at least one policy during the campaign. Mohanty celebrated the achievement, stating it “validates the relentless dedication, skill, and tireless work ethic of our agents,” and called it a testament to LIC’s mission of providing financial protection to families.
The record is more than just a numerical triumph—it signals LIC’s deep-rooted presence, operational strength, and ability to leverage its massive agent network and advancing digital capabilities. Industry analysts say this pinnacle achievement further strengthens LIC’s dominance in the life insurance sector, even amid growing competition
With this global recognition, LIC continues to demonstrate its leadership, scale, and commitment to national financial inclusion.
