World Book Day celebrations turned extraordinary at Lantern Academy in Ketley Bank, Telford, as pupils set their sights on breaking five Guinness World Records in a fun-filled fusion of literature and record-setting ambition.
While children across the country marked the occasion by dressing as their favourite storybook characters, Lantern Academy took it a step further by drawing inspiration from Guinness World Records, blending creativity with achievement.
The students were joined by special guest Ash Randall, a professional freestyle footballer and 25-time world record holder, best known for juggling a football on the roof of a moving car. During his visit, Randall thrilled the children with dazzling tricks and an inspirational talk about goal-setting and resilience.
“World Book Day is about imagination—and records are about dreaming big,” said Headteacher Mrs. Claire Evans. “We wanted to show our students that with passion and effort, even the wildest dreams can become reality.”
The event combined literacy with ambition, excitement, and teamwork—truly a page-turning moment for the young record hopefuls at Lantern Academy.
