Jordan’s Abdelkareem Khattab Breaks World Record Again to Win Second World Championship

Jordan’s Abdelkareem Khattab continued his unstoppable run in powerlifting by setting yet another world record en route to clinching his second World Championship title at the Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City.

Competing in the men’s up to 88kg category, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion lifted 251kg, surpassing his own previous world record by 1kg in a dominant performance that confirmed his position at the top of the sport. This is the same category in which he secured both his Paralympic and previous World Championship titles.

Khattab opened his campaign with a lift of 230kg and steadily progressed to set the new benchmark. He made an attempt to further extend the record in a fourth Powerlift, but was unsuccessful.

Just months earlier, at the Dubai World Cup, he made headlines by breaking the world record three times in the men’s up to 97kg category, eventually clinching gold with a 255kg lift.

Tuesday’s performance reaffirmed Khattab’s legendary status in para powerlifting, as he continues to redefine limits and set new milestones on the global stage.
