Jamshedpur’s Rohit Kumar Clears NEET, Steps into Medical School

On a lively street corner in Jamshedpur, where the sounds of traffic blend with the rhythm of daily hustle, Rohit Kumar has long stood behind a small stall selling mobile phone covers — his hands arranging merchandise, his mind chasing a dream much larger.

That dream came one giant step closer to reality on June 14, when Rohit achieved a milestone that moved his entire community: he cleared the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) and wore, for the first time, the white overcoat of a medical student.

“I can’t explain that feeling,” Rohit says, his voice filled with both disbelief and pride. “It was all worth it.”

Juggling work and studies, Rohit spent years preparing for the highly competitive exam — often studying late at night after tending to his street stall. His story is not one of privilege, but of sheer perseverance, grit, and relentless determination.

Now enrolled in an MBBS programme, Rohit says he’s focused on a future where the prefix “Dr.” isn’t just a title — but a tribute to the journey he has taken from the pavement to the path of healing.

His success is a beacon of hope for thousands of young Indians who come from humble beginnings but dare to dream beyond their circumstances.

Teachers, customers, and even fellow vendors now greet him not just with smiles, but with the deep respect owed to someone who refused to let his environment define his destiny.

As Rohit Kumar begins this new chapter in medicine, his story stands as a powerful reminder: where you come from does not limit how far you can go.
