India Sets Guinness World Record with 3.01 Lakh Participants on 11th International Day of Yoga

In a spectacular display of unity, wellness, and tradition, India has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering for a yoga session at a single venue, with over 3.01 lakh participants stretching in unison along the picturesque coastline of RK Beach, Visakhapatnam, on Saturday, marking the 11th International Day of Yoga.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the historic event by performing the Common Yoga Protocol, joined on stage by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, along with several Union and state ministers. The massive event spanned a 28-km stretch from RK Beach to Bhogapuram.

This remarkable turnout shattered the previous Guinness World Record, set by Surat in 2023, where 1.47 lakh people participated in a single-location yoga session.

The event also marked the grand finale of the month-long ‘Yogandhra’ campaign, an initiative promoting yoga and holistic health across Andhra Pradesh.

The enthusiasm was palpable as people from all walks of life — political leaders, government employees, professionals, students, women, children, and senior citizens — participated in the colourful and energizing session, turning the coastline into a living canvas of well-being and discipline.

Guinness officials certified the record on-site, calling it a “monumental moment for global yoga awareness.”
