Finn Allen Smashes T20 Records in MLC Opener: Fastest 150, Most Sixes in an Innings

In an explosive start to the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season, New Zealand opener Finn Allen delivered a sensational performance, rewriting the record books for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum on Friday.

Allen unleashed an unprecedented display of power-hitting, smashing a record 19 maximums during his innings, breaking the previous world record for the most sixes in a men’s T20 innings. This astounding feat surpassed the 18 sixes hit by both ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle and Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan.

The 26-year-old Kiwi batter reached his monumental 150 runs in just 49 balls, making it the fastest 150 in the history of T20 cricket. Batting first after losing the toss at the tournament’s newest venue, Allen started his onslaught from the very beginning, racing to 40 off just 14 deliveries inside the Powerplay, including five towering sixes.

His relentless aggression continued unabated, as he swiftly brought up his half-century in a mere 20 deliveries. Allen twice smacked three sixes in an over during his breathtaking innings, as he accelerated to his fourth T20 century in only 34 deliveries. This remarkable hundred also marked the fastest century in MLC history and the quickest T20 hundred ever scored by a New Zealand batter.

Allen’s destructive innings set a spectacular tone for the MLC season, leaving fans and pundits alike in awe of his record-breaking power and precision.
