The COVID-19 pandemic didn’t just upend lives—it sparked a collective awakening about what we eat. From social media influencers dissecting food labels to doctors advocating mindful diets, food literacy is taking center stage. At the forefront of this shift is TruthIn, an innovative app designed to decode the mysteries of modern food labels and empower consumers to make healthier choices.
TruthIn helps users navigate the often-confusing world of packaged foods by offering insights into ingredient quality, processing levels, and the meaning behind marketing tags like “sugar-free” and “low sodium.”
The idea for TruthIn emerged from personal adversity. In 2022, CEO Ravi Teja Putrevu received a life-changing diagnosis: acromegaly—a rare hormonal disorder that raised his risk of diabetes and heart disease. Reading food labels became a matter of life and death, but Ravi found them “like a maze without a map.” Driven by the need for clarity, he teamed up with Dr Aman Basheer Sheikh, a dental surgeon with a passion for health and nutrition. Together, they envisioned an app that merges technology and medicine to empower people to reclaim control over their diets.
As the pandemic underscored the importance of health and resilience, TruthIn’s mission resonates strongly. It’s more than an app—it’s a movement towards a healthier, more informed society where people understand the food they eat and its impact on their well-being.
