In an extraordinary feat of endurance and purpose, Ghani Souleymane, a Dubai-based athlete originally from Togo, has embarked on a 700-kilometre run across all seven emirates of the UAE. His ambitious mission is to break the world record for the fastest run across the country and raise funds for charity.
The 39-year-old ultra-runner began his journey yesterday from the UAE-Saudi border, with plans to reach Fujairah by Saturday, completing the entire stretch in just four days. If successful, Souleymane will shatter the current Guinness World Record of six days, 21 hours, and 48 minutes, set in 2006 by Jalal Jamal Majid Bin Thaneya Al Marri.
In addition to his record attempt, Souleymane is dedicating the run to a noble cause — raising funds for ‘Heroes of Hope’, a charitable initiative supported by the Al Jalila Foundation, which empowers people of determination through sport.
“This run is not just about breaking records, it’s about inspiring others and giving back to the community,” said Souleymane before setting off on his journey.
Souleymane’s ultramarathon will take him through the diverse terrain of the UAE, under the extreme summer heat, testing his physical and mental endurance every step of the way. His challenge is already drawing attention and admiration from the local fitness community and charitable circles alike.
Supporters can follow his journey live and contribute to the fundraising campaign aimed at making a lasting impact for inclusive sports programs in the UAE.
