Dorset Village Bakes Giant Apple Cake to Celebrate Dorset Day

Residents of Milborne Saint Andrew have come together in a deliciously impressive display of community spirit by baking what they believe to be the world’s largest Dorset apple cake.

In honour of Dorset Day, dozens of local bakers teamed up to produce a massive 40 square foot (3.7 sqm) version of the beloved county dessert. The cake, made from 79 individual bakes, was proudly assembled and shared at the village’s community café on Saturday.

Though the creation is unofficially record-breaking, organisers chose not to pursue a Guinness World Record due to the high cost of certification.

“It wasn’t about the record — it was about bringing everyone together,” said one organiser. “And what better way to do that than with cake?”

Slices of the giant apple cake were eagerly devoured by attendees, marking a sweet and memorable celebration of Dorset pride and culinary tradition.
