British Adventurer Tim Howell Aims for World’s Highest BASE Jump from Himalayan Peak

British wingsuit athlete and adventurer Tim Howell is preparing to attempt a record-breaking BASE jump from the summit of Lhotse, the world’s fourth tallest mountain, located beside Mount Everest in the Himalayas.

Howell, a former Royal Marine from Martock, Somerset, plans to leap from 8,300 metres (27,231 feet) wearing a wingsuit — a daring feat that, if successful, will set the world record for the highest BASE jump ever attempted. The current record stands significantly lower, making Howell’s mission an extraordinary pursuit of altitude and adrenaline.

The seasoned adventurer previously attempted the jump in 2024, but extreme weather conditions forced him to call off the expedition. This year, however, Howell says he is fully prepared and confident.

“For me, it’s kind of stepping into the known, rather than the unknown — and I’m ready for it,” Howell said, reflecting on the careful planning, training, and mental preparation that has gone into the challenge.

Lhotse, towering at 8,516 metres, presents one of the most difficult terrains for both climbers and jumpers. The thin air, freezing temperatures, and unpredictable Himalayan weather make any high-altitude jump extremely risky.

Howell’s attempt merges elite mountaineering with extreme aviation skill, representing the cutting edge of human endurance, precision, and courage.

If successful, Tim Howell won’t just jump into history — he’ll soar into it, setting a new world standard for adventure and redefining the limits of human flight.
