Brandon, Suffolk, Knits Up New Guinness World Record with Over 45,000 Pompoms

The town of Brandon in Suffolk is celebrating a fuzzy, fantastic achievement: a new Guinness World Record has been officially confirmed for the number of woolly pompoms laid out in a line!

The ambitious project, spearheaded by Brandon in Bloom, saw the community come together in an extraordinary display of crafting prowess, stringing an incredible 45,736 pompoms end-to-end. Nifty knitters, enthusiastic crafters, local schools, and various community groups all contributed to the record-breaking effort.

Claire Watts from Brandon in Bloom explained that the initial idea was to create something special for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. “It was a bit of a challenge,” she admitted, reflecting on the scale of the undertaking, “but we did it in style.”

The previous record for pompoms in a line stood at just over 23,000, a number Brandon in Bloom “smashed” with their impressive total. The thousands of colorful pompoms were meticulously laid out on a playing field in the town, with dedicated volunteers carefully counting and video-recording each one. This extensive evidence was then submitted to Guinness World Records’ adjudicators, who have now officially verified the new global benchmark.

The record is a testament to the town’s vibrant community spirit and collective effort, turning a simple craft into a world-class achievement.
