Chess prodigy Anvi Deepak Hinge, just seven years old, received a hero’s welcome aboard an Indigo flight as she returned home from the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2025, held in Bangkok from April 20 to 29.
Anvi, representing India, clinched a total of six medals—two gold and four silver—marking an extraordinary performance in the prestigious competition. Her outstanding achievement earned her special recognition from the flight crew and fellow passengers.
Anvi and an accompanying adult had just settled into their seats when the pilot made a heartfelt announcement, praising the young champion. “This little girl is returning after becoming a world champion,” he declared. “She just won the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2025.”
