Union Bank of India Launches India’s First Truly Accessible ATM for the Visually Impaired

Union Bank of India (UBI), a pioneer in the public sector banking industry, today launched India’s first truly accessible ATM tailored for visually impaired and differently-abled persons. The innovative technology, presented by NCR Corporation, was inaugurated at The Blind People Association, Vastrapur, Ahmedabad.

The accessible ATM integrates NCR’s “Voice Guidance Solution” with the NCR Cash Dispenser Self Serv 22e. It features a talking interface, an ASA-approved keypad equipped with Braille stickers, clear audio instructions, and voice guidance. Additionally, the ATM includes wheelchair ramps, making it fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

This initiative marks a significant step towards financial inclusivity, empowering visually impaired users with independent and secure banking transactions. UBI’s collaboration with NCR exemplifies the commitment to adopting technology that fosters equal access and convenience for all citizens.
