Students from Lonavala Set World Record by Making Over 2.3 Lakh Eco-Friendly Paper Bags in a Day

In a remarkable initiative to support the “Save Environment, Save Trees” campaign, V.P.S. High School & D.P. Mehta Jr. College, Lonavala, Pune, Maharashtra, organized a massive eco-awareness event that led to a New World Record.

On 18th December 2017, a total of 3,657 students participated in a record-setting drive by collectively making 2,30,373 eco-friendly paper bags using waste newspaper materials. The bags were then distributed to local residents and businesses, promoting the use of recyclable alternatives over plastic.

Held at the school and college grounds near Lonavala Railway Station, this initiative highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility and youth engagement in sustainability efforts.

The feat not only set a world record but also served as an inspiring example of how educational institutions can drive real change for a greener future.
