“Sky Queen of the Himalayas: First Female to Skydive at 21,500 Feet Near Everest”

In a groundbreaking display of courage and skill, Shital Mahajan, one of India’s most decorated skydivers, has become the first woman in the world to skydive from a height of 21,500 feet in front of Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak.

Mahajan, 41, leapt from a helicopter hovering over the Himalayan ranges, making a successful descent on the front face of Everest, a feat rarely attempted due to the extreme altitude, freezing temperatures, and turbulent air currents.

A recipient of the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, Mahajan already holds numerous skydiving records across continents and terrains—from the North Pole to Antarctica. Her latest jump on November 13 adds yet another feather to her cap and reaffirms her status as a trailblazer in adventure sports.

“This jump was my dream. Doing it in front of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, is not just a personal milestone but also a message to all women—no summit is too high,” Mahajan said after the feat.

The high-altitude skydive required meticulous planning and extensive acclimatization due to the thin oxygen levels and harsh Himalayan conditions. With this achievement, Mahajan continues to redefine the boundaries of human endurance, particularly for women in extreme adventure sports.
