In a landmark initiative aimed at promoting gender equality and eradicating gender-based discrimination, the National Health Mission (NHM), Jaipur, Rajasthan, organized the largest ever youth mobilization program titled “Daughters are Precious” across 4,000 locations in the state.
Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Naveen Jain, IAS, Mission Director of NHM, Government of Rajasthan, the event was held on National Girl Child Day, 24th January 2018. The campaign witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 11,72,712 individuals from 6,439 educational institutions including schools and colleges.
The mega mobilization aimed to educate the masses—especially the youth—on the importance of saving and empowering the girl child, while also raising awareness on illegal sex determination practices and advocating gender equality. The participants were engaged in various awareness activities, including educational talks, pledge-taking, and distribution of informative materials across the state.
The event not only set a new world record for largest youth mobilization for a social cause, but also marked a monumental step toward transforming societal attitudes and promoting a more inclusive, equitable future for all daughters of the nation.
