Over 3,000 Smurfs Paint the Town Blue, Set New World Record in Small French Town

Landerneau, a quaint town in western France’s Brittany region, has made history by setting a new world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Smurfs. Over the weekend, 3,076 participants donned blue face paint, white hats, and Smurf costumes, surpassing the previous record of 2,762 held by Lauchringen, Germany since 2019.

With a population of just 16,000, Landerneau’s spirited residents and visitors came together in a joyous celebration of the beloved blue characters, singing Smurf songs and painting the town blue—literally! This third attempt paid off as the community’s enthusiasm turned their smurf-sized dream into a Guinness World Record triumph.

The record-breaking event not only highlights Landerneau’s charm but also showcases the power of community spirit and fun in breaking global records.
