In a remarkable medical breakthrough, Dr. Dhiren Bassi of Ludhiana, Punjab, has set a record by becoming the first surgeon to perform Avascular Necrosis (AVN) surgery using the Ortho-biologics Implant method—a landmark achievement in orthopedic treatment.
Dr. Bassi conducted the surgery on a patient suffering from AVN in the left hip joint (femoral head), a condition marked by the death of bone tissue due to the loss of blood supply. Employing a specialized technique known as Core Decompression (OSS GROW), Dr. Bassi was able to restore function and significantly improve the patient’s quality of life.
This innovative method, combining core decompression with the use of biological implants, marks a new era in non-replacement therapies for AVN.
