Master Vijay Singh, has been steadfastly sitting on a non-violent strike in front of the District Magistrate’s office in Muzaffarnagar since February 26, 1996, marking over 18 years of continuous protest.
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principle of non-violence, his ongoing Satyagraha aims to fight against the illegal acquisition of public agricultural land. Despite his peaceful protest, approximately 4,000 bighas (800 acres) of public farmland in his village have reportedly been forcibly grabbed by land mafia.
