“Largest Synchronized Online Classical Dance Performance Across Multiple Venues”

In an extraordinary display of unity, creativity, and resilience, the Department of Dance, Faculty of Performing Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, created a New World Record by organizing a synchronized global dance performance during the COVID-19 lockdown.

With the goal of spreading positivity and cultural harmony amid the pandemic, a total of 337 dancers, including current students, alumni, and faculty members, participated in this one-of-a-kind virtual event. All dancers performed live on Facebook for 10 minutes on the same choreography and composition, from multiple venues across the globe.

The event was held on 13th May 2020 at 4:30 PM IST and was choreographed and coordinated entirely online, showcasing the department’s ability to adapt performing arts to the digital medium while upholding tradition and excellence.

This inspiring initiative not only set a New World Record but also served as a tribute to the healing power of art during times of global crisis.
