Kolkata-born globetrotter Kashi Samaddar has etched his name into history as the first person in the world to visit every country on Earth. With this extraordinary feat, he has not only fulfilled a personal mission but also sent a powerful message about global equality, peace, and perseverance.
Samaddar completed his journey across all 195 recognized sovereign nations, including Taiwan, on July 9, 2011, in South Sudan—the world’s youngest country. His journey, however, began much earlier and was sparked by an incident in 2003 at Johannesburg Airport, where he faced visa discrimination. That event inspired a lifelong commitment to promote equal visa rights and end nationality-based travel restrictions.
He has now achieved 11 world records and continues to inspire millions with his motto: “True World Peace Through Tourism.”
