Kala Chetna Sets World Record with 7 Konkani Play Performances in One Day

In a remarkable feat for Goan theatre, Kala Chetna, a renowned theatre group based in Volvoi, has set a world record by staging seven consecutive shows of their acclaimed Konkani play “Gaon Zala Janto” in a single day.

The marathon performance took place at Rajiv Kala Mandir, Ponda, starting at 7:30 AM and continuing till midnight, with only half-hour breaks between each show. Each performance of the two-hour play was met with enthusiastic audiences, many of whom stayed throughout the day to witness history in the making.

The record attempt drew a large turnout, celebrating not only the stamina and dedication of the performers but also the enduring popularity and cultural significance of Konkani theatre.

“It’s a proud moment for all of us and a tribute to the richness of Konkani drama,” said a spokesperson from Kala Chetna. “This achievement belongs to the entire Goan community that supported us.”
