Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra Shines at NYCxDESIGN with Guinness World Record

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra, the ultra-premium Scotch whisky, has been officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “World’s lightest 70cl bottle” during its recent showcase at NYCxDESIGN.

Weighing just 6.3 ounces (180 grams), the bottle represents a groundbreaking achievement in sustainable luxury packaging. This exclusive release is set to launch in the North American market on May 1st, priced at $1,250, with only 888 bottles produced, making it an extraordinarily rare expression of whisky craftsmanship.

The innovation behind Ultra lies in a revolutionary patented glass technology developed by Diageo’s design team. This breakthrough reimagines traditional bottle construction, combining sustainability with exceptional craftsmanship and setting a new standard for premium spirits packaging.

The open-sourced glass patent has also inspired artistic collaborations with renowned creators such as Philadelphia-based glass sculptor Amber Cowan, Brooklyn design studio Objects of Common Interest, and industrial designer Scott Newlin, who have each produced unique works exploring the creative potential of the technology.

Johnnie Walker’s presence at NYCxDESIGN is highlighted by the exhibition titled “OUT OF THE BLUE: Glass, Craft and the Future of Johnnie Walker Blue Label,” held from May 15th to 20th at the Cristina Grajales Gallery in Tribeca, New York. The immersive event features panels, masterclasses, and artistic collaborations, delving into the brand’s innovative design journey.

This recognition and exhibition mark a significant moment for Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra, merging luxury, sustainability, and artistry in a truly record-breaking package.
