“First-Ever Ph.D. Awarded in Political Cartooning Marks Historic Academic Milestone”

In a landmark recognition of academic and journalistic achievement, senior TV journalist Dr. Praveen Tiwari has been officially recorded in the World Book of Records, London (UK) as the “First Ever to Have a Ph.D. on Political Cartooning.” This unique distinction marks a global first in journalism research.

Dr. Tiwari completed this groundbreaking Ph.D. in 2007 from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, under the mentorship of Dr. Man Singh Parmar, currently the Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre Journalism University. His doctoral research explores the significant role of political cartoons in democratic discourse and media narratives.

Adding prestige to the occasion, the preface of his soon-to-be-published thesis in book form has been penned by the late legendary cartoonist Sudhir Tailang. This rare scholarly work is expected to contribute richly to the understanding of political satire and media influence in India.

The World Book of Records certificate was presented by Union Cabinet Minister Kalraj Mishra and Dr. Diwakar Sukul, Chairman of World Book of Records, during a summit in Indore. Sharing the proud moment was Dr. Tiwari’s father, Shriram Tiwari, a noted Janwadi writer, who joined his son in receiving the honor.

This milestone is not only a personal achievement for Dr. Tiwari but also a tribute to the intellectual relevance of political cartooning in Indian media and a beacon for future journalism researchers.
