In a blazing display of courage and skill, British daredevil Ryan Luney, 28, broke a Guinness World Record by performing 7 standing backflips in just 30 seconds—completely engulfed in flames.
Luney, a seasoned stunt performer and multiple Guinness World Records holder, donned protective gear soaked in a special gel and kept in a fridge for 24 hours to shield himself from the intense heat. “I was freezing,” Luney told Guinness World Records. “I’m wearing a couple of layers underneath that are soaked in gel and put in a fridge for 24 hours to help protect me from the fire — it was extremely cold.”
Despite the extreme conditions, Luney successfully completed the acrobatic feat, setting the record for the most standing backwards somersaults in 30 seconds while experiencing a full body burn. Immediately after finishing, he was sprayed with a fire extinguisher and wrapped in a towel to put out the flames.
“There are so many records for full-body burns that I didn’t even think I could have a chance at even touching, so now that I’ve done this record, I’ve kind of got the bug again and I’m thinking I could do more,” Luney said, hinting at future daring attempts.
This fiery stunt adds another thrilling chapter to Luney’s career as one of the world’s most fearless stunt performers.
