In a historic moment for Indian magic and performance art, Mekhala Nayak, a magician from Bengaluru, etched her name into the record books as the first female to perform the mail bag escape magic trick on stage.
The record-setting performance took place at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, where a large audience witnessed the heart-pounding feat. In true Houdini style, two spectators were invited on stage to inspect and secure a canvas mail bag with padlocks. Once Mekhala was locked inside, the bag was concealed behind a curtain—and in a matter of moments, she miraculously escaped and reappeared among the crowd, leaving spectators stunned.
Mekhala Nayak has long been dedicated to breaking barriers in the male-dominated field of magic. Her bold performance not only showcased her technical mastery and showmanship but also made a powerful statement about female empowerment and representation in illusion arts.
