Sensei Manjit Dihingia, a dedicated police officer from Sonitpur district, Assam, embarked on an extraordinary solo cycling journey on 21st August 2016 to spread awareness about environmental conservation and promote traditional Assamese music. Born on 20th December 1985 and son of Tankeswar Dihingia, Sensei Manjit cycled 80 kilometers from Gohpur Town to Kusumtola Jamugurihat, Sonitpur.
What made this journey unique was his ability to play musical instruments with both hands while cycling throughout the entire 2-hour and 40-minute trip. This impressive feat combined physical endurance with cultural promotion, capturing the attention and admiration of many.
The self-supported and solo expedition was aimed at encouraging people to save the environment while celebrating Assam’s rich musical heritage, highlighting the importance of preserving both nature and culture.
