In celebration of the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a historic world record was set by TABLA TALIM SANSTHAN, Ahmedabad, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Youth Services and Cultural Activities, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. The event marked an extraordinary tribute to India’s cultural heritage and freedom journey.
A total of 317 students participated in a relay tabla marathon, performing nonstop for 75 hours at the Upasana School of Performing Arts, Gujarat University Campus, Navrangpura. The marathon began at 12:45 PM on 16th October 2022 and concluded at 3:45 PM on 19th October 2022, setting a New World Record for the longest continuous relay performance on tabla (hand drum).
This awe-inspiring feat was conceptualized and managed by Tabla Guru Shri Munjal Mehta and his dedicated team, who meticulously orchestrated the sequence to maintain musical consistency and energy over the span of more than three days.
The record not only showcases the power of collective effort and cultural expression but also serves as an inspiration to younger generations to preserve and promote Indian classical music traditions.
