Mundra Port, operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), has solidified its position as India’s largest commercial port through continuous expansion and record-breaking achievements.
In October 2023, Mundra Port set a new national benchmark by handling 16.1 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in a single month, the highest ever recorded by any Indian port.
During the fiscal year 2023-24, the port managed 179.6 MMT of cargo, including 7.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), accounting for over a quarter of India’s total cargo volumes.
Mundra Port boasts a deep draft, all-weather facilities capable of accommodating large vessels, including fully loaded Capesize ships, Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC), and Ultra Large Crude Carriers (ULCC).
The port is equipped with 26 berths and dedicated terminals for various cargo types, with an annual capacity to handle 231 MMT of cargo.
Its container terminals have a combined quay length of 2.1 kilometers, featuring 18 rail-mounted quay cranes and 48 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, facilitating efficient container handling.
The port is well-connected to the National Highway network via State Highways 48 and 6, ensuring seamless road transport.
A privately developed 69-kilometer rail network links Mundra to Adipur, providing nationwide rail connectivity and enabling the handling of approximately 130 trains per day, including double-stack container trains.
Mundra Port also features an airport with plans for expansion to support international air cargo operations.
Adjacent to the port is a multi-product SEZ spanning over 6,473 hectares, offering facilities for various industries, including light and heavy engineering, auto components, textiles, and pharmaceuticals.
Through strategic development and robust infrastructure, Mundra Port continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing India’s maritime trade and logistics capabilities.
