In a tale that’s as heartwarming as it is banana-loving, Sharon Mayfield, a 38-year-old Minions superfan from Brisbane, has officially entered the Guinness World Records for having the largest collection of Minions memorabilia on the planet.
Her record-breaking collection includes a staggering 11,321 Minion-themed items—from plush toys and action figures to kitchenware, costumes, artwork, and even a life-sized inflatable Minion that greets visitors at her front door.
“I’ve loved the Minions since the first Despicable Me movie came out in 2010,” said Sharon, beaming with pride. “Their silliness, their loyalty, their love for bananas—what’s not to adore? I just kept collecting, and the next thing I knew, my entire guest room was yellow.”
The Guinness World Records team verified the collection over the course of two days, carefully cataloging each piece in Sharon’s home, which now resembles a mini Minion museum. The previous record holder had 8,742 items, making Sharon’s achievement a huge leap forward in Minion fandom.
A Community Celebration
Locals joined the celebration as Sharon unveiled a portion of her collection during a public event at the South Bank Cultural Precinct, where she hosted games, costume contests, and photo ops with her most beloved Minions.
“It’s more than just collecting for me,” Sharon said. “It’s about joy, connection, and bringing smiles to people’s faces. Kids love it, adults secretly love it too. The world could use more Minions energy!”
From Hobby to History
What started as a casual hobby has now turned into something truly historic. Sharon also maintains a social media presence under the handle @MinionQueenAU, where she shares updates, Minion-themed DIYs, and even interviews with other collectors around the world.
Now that she’s a world record holder, what’s next?
“I’m not stopping anytime soon,” she laughed. “There’s always a new Minion to find. And who knows—maybe Universal Pictures will let me cameo in the next movie!”
As Sharon proudly holds up her Guinness certificate next to a tower of yellow figures, one thing’s clear: when it comes to Minions, she’s truly one in a Minion.
