The first session of Parliament in free India was held on 13 May 1952, following the first general elections held in 1951-1952. During this session:
- Jawaharlal Nehru was serving as the Prime Minister of India.
- Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the President of India, having assumed office in 1950.
- This session marked an important milestone in India’s post-independence history, as it was the first full parliamentary session after India had become a Republic on 26 January 1950.
The session was significant not only for the parliamentary process but also as it represented the democratic framework of India in full action, with the country having successfully held its first general elections and established a functioning democratic government.
