When the time was up, Johannes Berge proudly showed his empty mouth to confirm that he had finished all the oatmeal.
In a world where remarkable feats are often celebrated, a new and intriguing record has emerged: the most oatmeal consumed in one minute. Johannes Berge from Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway, set a Guinness World Record (GWR) by eating 1,014 grams of oatmeal, roughly equivalent to 4.2 cups, in just 60 seconds on May 31, 2024. According to the Guinness World Records website, Berge chose this challenge because he “wanted to try a record which he felt he’d be good at.”
Guinness World Records also shared a video on their Instagram, capturing Berge’s record attempt. In the viral footage, Berge is seen seated with a large bowl of oatmeal in front of him, ready to take on the challenge. As the timer starts, he leans in with a tablespoon, quickly scooping and eating large spoonfuls of oatmeal. Throughout the minute, Berge efficiently consumes several spoonfuls of oatmeal. When time is up, he proudly shows his empty mouth to confirm that he has finished all the oatmeal.
