Delhi Police enters Limca Book of Records for solving India’s biggest cash heist case

In less than 10 hours, the police tracked down the driver and recovered the stolen amount, except for Rs 10,500 which the accused driver had spent in food, alcohol and some articles, said a senior police official.

Following a felicitation programme this morning, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi tweeted: “DP enters the Limca Book of Records for making India’s largest ever cash recovery of Rs 22.49 crore of stolen money.”

In January 2016, the Delhi Police made a remarkable achievement by entering the Limca Book of Records for solving one of the largest cash heists in India’s history. The case involved a driver, Pradeep Shukla, who fled with a van containing Rs 22.5 crore on November 26, 2015. The police worked tirelessly, using advanced tracking systems to locate the driver and recover almost all of the stolen cash in less than 10 hours, with only Rs 10,500 missing, which was spent by the driver on food and alcohol.

This swift and successful recovery marked the largest ever cash recovery by the Delhi Police, a feat that was celebrated by the force and officially recognized by the Limca Book of Records.
