In a spectacular display of endurance and coordination, the Skateathlon and Waveboard Sports Maharashtra Association successfully organized a world record event to promote skating sports across India. Under the expert mentorship of Vishal Desai and Sanjay Kamble, a total of 540 students took part in a massive skating marathon on 7th October 2018 at the Skating Rink of Maharashtra Mandal Sports & Education Complex, Swargate, Pune.
The students skated in groups of 75, collectively covering an astounding distance of 12,96,000 meters in a zig-zag pattern over a continuous 5-hour period. Each participant contributed by skating for at least one hour within a 120-meter skating ring, showcasing remarkable stamina and teamwork.
This event not only set a new world record but also served as a strong initiative to create awareness and enthusiasm for skating as a competitive and recreational sport throughout the country.
The record was officially recognized at the venue, marking a proud moment for Maharashtra and the Indian skating community.
