In a remarkable display of patriotism and unity, skating coaches and their students from across India came together on 14th November 2019 to set a new world record, raising awareness about nationalism, patriotism, and empathy towards the nation.
Under the leadership of renowned skating coaches, including Master Hitesh Somvanshi (Maheshwar Surat Skating Sports Academy, Gujarat), Master Vishwas Chande (Vihan Skating Club, Maharashtra), Master Sunil Dhomne (Orange City Sports Association, Nagpur), Master Vishnu Todkar (Navy Wives Welfare Association & Karwar Fighters Skating Club, Karnataka), Master Maruti Mane (Indian Sports Academy, Shirwal), and the collective coaches of Skateathlon Association Maharashtra, a total of 360 students participated simultaneously across multiple venues.
Each group skated non-stop for 1 hour and 1 minute while proudly holding and waving the Indian National Flag. The synchronized events took place at:
- Decathlon, Surat City, Gujarat
- Regal Public School, Konda, Chiplun, Maharashtra
- NIT Playground, Trimurti Nagar, Nagpur, Maharashtra
- INS Kadamba, Naval Base, Karwar, Karnataka
- Shirwal Sports Ground, Shirwal, Satara, Maharashtra
- Skating Rink, Maharashtra Mandal Sports & Education Complex, Pune, Maharashtra
The events began at 5:00 PM and concluded precisely at 6:01 PM, symbolizing a unified effort to inspire young citizens about the values of patriotism and national pride through the dynamic sport of skating.
This synchronized, nationwide initiative has been widely praised for promoting national unity and encouraging students to engage actively with their country’s heritage in an innovative and inspiring manner.
