Republic of Ireland international Megan Campbell has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest throw-in ever by a female footballer, achieving a remarkable distance of 37.55 metres.
Currently playing for the London City Lionesses, Campbell’s powerful throw surpassed the previous record of 35 metres by more than two metres — a feat so impressive that it’s 10 metres longer than the length of a blue whale.
Her record-breaking throw has not only stunned the football world but has also become a symbol of what women in sport can achieve when determination meets talent.
Speaking after setting the new benchmark, the Irish international said:
“This shows there are no barriers. If you have a goal and you have a mindset to want to go out and achieve that, then it’s possible.”
Campbell has long been known for her exceptional throw-in ability, often using it as a tactical weapon during matches. Now, that skill has cemented her place in the record books.
Her achievement is being celebrated not just by football fans, but by athletes across all sports as a powerful reminder that barriers are meant to be broken — especially by those bold enough to challenge them.
With her record-setting throw, Megan Campbell has not only launched a football further than any woman before her — she’s also launched a message of limitless potential for women in sport everywhere.
