Artemis II Aims to Break Record for Farthest Human Journey from Earth

“Artemis II is set to make history as it targets a new milestone: sending humans farther from Earth than ever before.

The mission, led by NASA, will carry astronauts on a journey around the Moon, surpassing the distance achieved during the historic Apollo 13 mission, which currently holds the record for the farthest distance traveled by humans from Earth.

Artemis II will be the first crewed mission in NASA’s Artemis program, designed to pave the way for future lunar exploration and eventually missions to Mars. The crew will travel aboard the Orion spacecraft, venturing deep into space before returning safely to Earth.

Scientists and engineers have spent years preparing for the mission, ensuring the spacecraft and systems are capable of supporting human life during long-duration space travel.

If successful, Artemis II will mark a significant leap forward in human space exploration, demonstrating new capabilities and setting the stage for sustained presence beyond Earth orbit.”
